Josiah’s Life at 6 months: A Full Day with a Few Firsts

I know there’s a few of you out there that don’t live close enough to know what my days look like in my ripe old age. So, this little post is to give you a little bit of an idea.

I like to start my days off with a healthy breakfast. I’ve found some of the arguments that my Aunt Chesed has made about Fiber very compelling. Also, I want to build healthy habits, like eating fiber, into my life at an early age (especially since my Mom seems so concerned about my “regularity”).

After breakfast I like to go out for some exercise. Between you and me, my thighs are out of control and I look like I have rubber bands around my wrists and ankles. I guess I’ve always been a little hesitant to get out in the hot summer sun with my fair skin. Thankfully, my Grandparents brought me back a nice hat from an undisclosed location. I’m wearing it in the picture below. Now, I think I’ll be ready for basketball season!

Like I said before, I’m not in the best shape. I can’t stay outside all day long. Anyways, I think it was the Apostle Paul who said that “while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come”. That’s why I like to spend my afternoons being shaped by godly men. Here I am listening to one of my favorite men, a young Billy Graham.

Dr. Graham is great! But, all of this activity makes me pretty hungry. Instead of including a picture of me eating dinner, I decided to go the extra mile for y’all. So, for your viewing pleasure, I put together a video of me taking my very first bite of cereal, my first drink of water from a cup, and my first tasting of guacamole. As you’ll notice, things progressively got worse. In the first section, I’m not sure if I like the cereal at the beginning. But then I decide that I love it! I kind of wanted to eat the bowl too! In the second section, I begin to question my parent’s love for me when I taste water. I don’t say this in the video with my mouth, but my face communicates it. The final section was the hardest for me to go through. I almost had to bring in a stunt double, but none of my friends are born yet that would do it. Needless to say, guacamole wasn’t an early favorite. Hope you enjoy the video and have enjoyed the post. Take Care!

He looks great!

We just returned from Josiah’s 6 month checkup and the doctor said everything looks great!  For those familiar with his lingering neck rash, we have been given a prescription, so hopefully he will start looking even more handsome!  We will go to the seminary soon and get the three shots due this month, but after this round, he won’t need anymore till 9 months!  (I’m really happy about this!!)  And his next appointment won’t be until 9 months.  Be on the look out for a vegetable feeding update soon-there will be avocado served tomorrow night!!

His 6 month stats:

Weight:  17 lbs. 2 oz. (50%)

Height:  26 1/8″ (50%)

Head:  18 in.

For all the “SAHM’s” out there

Here is a new website I just discovered today that has a lot of fun info/ideas.  Apparently it’s designed to help SAHM’s-which I just discovered is code for Stay at home Moms, so now all of us stay at home mom’s can properly fill out the occupation section of documents 🙂  Enjoy!

Happy 6 month Birthday!

Josiah is half a year old today!  Wow!  I cannot believe how quickly 6 months have gone by.  What an absolute joy he is to our lives.  This morning I was thanking God for blessing our family with such a sweet, determined, super-smile little boy who also just happens to have the cutest chunky thighs!  We love him to pieces and are so excited to see what new things he is going to discover each and every day.  He is sitting totally on his own now and even puts a little bounce in there every once in a while.  He is eating cereal twice a day and has now moved to sitting in the high chair for meals-such a big boy!  He rolls all over the place, especially when he is in his crib.  We will put him on his stomach facing one of the walls. When we come back in he is on the total opposite end, facing a different direction and on his back!!  It is quite humerous.  Somehow he has figured out how to turn the mobile on that hangs over his crib. When we hear it come on during his nap time and check on him, he’s just watching the creatures rotate around-basically he’s a genius!  Not crawling yet, but he turns and pushes up on his arms like he’s really going to go somewhere.  But then he just ends up rolling over.  He is more interested in standing up and “dancing” or riding the horse on daddy’s knee.  We go in tomorrow for his 6 month check up, so I’ll post his stats after the appointment.  Here are a few recent pics for your enjoyment:
